Fort Defiance Civil War Park & Interpretive Center

Crossroads of Change

An education-focused experience, this historic Southern site functions for both large school/tour groups and the general public. We designed both interior and exterior exhibits that utilize interactive AV media and thoughtful graphic treatments to interpret Clarksville’s complex history.

Galleries weave together an original film production, and immersive recreations of the fort’s earthworks with symbolic encounters of Civil War era citizens to create a cohesive experience. Our exterior signage details the fort’s original position and role of defending the Cumberland River Waterway from advancing Union forces, further contextualizing more than two centuries of activity.
